It's tough for Australia to break new ground.

The highest peaks have already been conquered.

This is the squad that has won seven Cricket World Cups, in addition to another six T20 titles, and earlier maintained 1,294 days undefeated in 50-over cricket.

The remaining milestones, those for the achievement hunters, are the only things left for a squad that has won it all.

The fact it required as late as Sunday's three-wicket win over India for them to achieve their initial ODI chase exceeding 300, reclaiming their record for the biggest in the women's 50-over format, is, honestly, a tribute to the bowlers that have represented Australia over five decades.

It's difficult for their batsmen to possess a record if not provided the opportunity.

Ultimately, the consequence of Australia allowing 330 runs was skipper Alyssa Healy being given an opportunity to create her latest masterpiece.

Initially recognized as the teenage relative of famous ex Aussie wicketkeeper Ian, she made her debut in 2010 after her country failed to win either of the 20 or 50-over World Cups conducted earlier and has experienced everything through 15 championship-filled years since.

That loss "motivated us to rethink our standards," Healy said this week.

At the next 50-over World Cup in New Zealand, Healy scored 170 against England in the title decider and was awarded tournament MVP. She guaranteed her country would not fail again.

If this newest brilliant performance exceeded that prior achievement can be debated.

Many contend the argument supporting final game tension. Different voices suggest with the challenge that comes when facing a record target and a loud pro-India audience of 20,000.

What is certain is this century was far harder to predict.

The Christchurch carnage in 2022 happened while she was the highest scorer, but this performance was preceded by six games in India over the past few weeks in which she had been unable to reach 30.

"For those following me in practice sessions, it's been a frustrating experience because I feel like my form was missing at all," commented Healy.

"However when you step out on the field, your competitive instincts kick in and you just lock into the competition."

Healy's competitiveness has always been her major advantage - and an irreplaceable characteristic in replacing famous previous leader Meg Lanning.

She was challenged by India's rising star Kranti Gaud in last month's ODI series, out to the emerging pace bowler in each encounter, but here that only provided Healy's inspiration.

A single was taken off the opening delivery and after that Healy was in motion.

"An opportunity to take the field and lock in a contest with her and just have a bit of fun in that regard, sort of got me going," said Healy.

She got to fifty in 35 deliveries - her fastest at a World Cup - and her century in 84 as she attacked short-pitched balls, striking 21 boundaries and three maximums.

Once she was out Australia needed 66 additional runs at a run-a-ball - an achievable target now requiring a leisurely stroll.

"Chasing 330 runs is uncharted waters so I'm happy we have the assurance to accomplish that now," added Healy.

"Ideally we won't need to do it another time but, should it happen, we know we can do it."

These statements will be the final thing competing nations at this World Cup should hear.

In recent days a sense they will win from any position has grown stronger - this success coming after victory over Pakistan by 107 run margin despite being 76-7 at one stage.

Subsequently Australia meet Bangladesh before an encounter with old rivals England in Indore in a week and a half, by which point a semi-final place may likely be confirmed.
